The Animal Control division of the Pell City Police Department is in charge of protecting the health and safety of Pell City residents and their pets.
Animal Control Officers provide a variety of services to individuals inside Pell City's corporate city limits, including:
Pell City does have a leash law, a vicious animal ordinance, and requires pet owners to keep their pets under control at all times. Dogs that have bitten or threatened to bite people are termed vicious. Dogs who cross property lines and attack other canines, as well as dogs that destroy personal property, are termed vicious. Animals that cause harm or are deemed vicious must be kept by the owner and are not allowed to roam free. Stray dogs and cats can be picked up by the city. The Pell City Animal Control Center will receive all animals picked up by the city.
