Adoption Process at Humane Society of Elmore County

Walk-in adoptions are not allowed unless you have submitted a pre-approved application. To protect our employees, we do not allow the general public to simply ‘come walk-through the Shelter to look at our animals.'

FEES FOR ADOPTION

• Dogs/Puppies - $100
• Cats and kittens aged one year and under are $50. Cats above the age of a year may be adopted to approved adopters for a cost of your choice.

The shelter reserves the right to raise or lower adoption costs at its discretion.

The adoption fee includes:

• Mandatory spay/neuter before you take your pet home, basic vaccines (DHPP-CPV & Bordatella Intranasal for dogs; FVR-CP + Calici for cats)
• Appropriate de-wormings for internal parasites, Flea prevention, One-year rabies vaccination if old enough, Heartworm test for dogs over five months old
• A 24-bit microchip
• Pet Watch, which involves registration to the adopter, Certificate for a free health examination at your participating veterinarian, and a goodie bag with information, toys, and treats
